Ottawans and Torontonians, plans for the launch of Born to Walk are now firm. In Ottawa, join us if you can at the Fox and Feather pub, 283 Elgin St., on Wednesday, April 1 at 7 p.m. We’ll have a private room and there will be snacks, a cash bar (with a wide selection of craft beers on tap) and, yes, books. Round two is in Toronto on Thursday, April 16 at Ben McNally Books, 366 Bay St., just south of Queen, at 6 p.m. There will be food and drinks — and books — there too. The Ottawa event is being supported by Walk Ottawa, a volunteer group that advocates for “pedestrian infrastructure and community culture that encourage walking as a healthy, safe and accessible means of exercise, enjoyment and transportation.”
A couple more events to tell you about. In Toronto, on Saturday, April 18 at 2 p.m., I’ll be leading a walking tour of the neighbourhood where I grew up, Ledbury Park, for Walk Toronto. And on Friday, May 8, I’ll have a table and books at Ottawa’s second annual Walking Day, at the recently reopened Lansdowne Park. More details to come for both of these events.
